Apartment 7A, Natalie Erika James’ prequel to the psychological horror classic Rosemary’s Baby, hits Paramount+ on September 27 – with a brand new poster debuting today via Bloody Disgusting that pays strong homage to the original artwork from 1968.
Apartment 7A stars Julia Garner (Ozark, Zach Cregger’s upcoming Weapons, Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Wolf Man) as Terry, a character from the original film who befriends Mia Farrow’s Rosemary after she moves into her new New York City apartment.
In Apartment 7A:
Dancer Terry Gionoffrio dreams of fame and fortune in New York City, but after suffering a devastating injury, an older, wealthy couple welcomes her into their home in the luxury apartment building the Bramford. When fellow resident and influential Broadway producer offers her another chance at fame, it seems that all her dreams are finally coming true. However, after an evening she can’t fully remember, disturbing circumstances soon have her second-guessing the sacrifices she’s willing to make for her career as she realizes that something evil is living not only in Apartment 7A, but in the Bramford itself.
Alongside Garner, Apartment 7A stars Dianne West, Kevin McNally, Jim Sturgess and Marli Siu.
Apartment 7A has been Rated R for “violent content and drug use.”
If you’ve seen James’ Relic, you’ll know that she’s a filmmaker with a keen eye for terrifying atmosphere, which has us very excited for what she’ll be bringing to the prequel to such an iconic story. When Vanity Fair previously spoke to the director, here’s what she had to say:
“When I first was approached about the project, I was very dubious […] For sure, I never would’ve signed on to do a remake of such a classic and seminal film. But it’s been a joy to be able to play within the world and the sandbox of Ira Levin’s novel and also play with the characters. I guess my motivation for taking it on was feeling like there was a different emotional journey to be explored and to do it in a way that skewed the genre a little bit.”
If you’re heading to next month’s Fantastic Fest, you can catch the World Premiere of Apartment 7A. For everyone else, we’ll see you at the Bramford on September 27.
