Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The excitement audiences feel for returning to this universe is downright palpable. The promise of seeing Michael Keaton back as one of his most beloved characters with Burton back behind the camera is irresistible. Like any big movie, there are quite a few product tie-ins hitting shelves in the coming weeks. The latest such tie-in is a line of themed soft drinks from the folks at Fanta, with a special new flavor crafted just for the sequel.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be getting a full lineup of soft drinks themed around the film, including a new “Haunted Apple” flavor. They are due to hit shelves beginning August 12. They should pair quite nicely with one of the Regal popcorn buckets that have been put together for the film. The full Fanta flavor range will receive limited time makeovers based on the characters. This includes Orange – Astrid (played by Jenna Ortega), Strawberry – Lydia Deetz (played by Winona Ryder), Pineapple – Delia Deetz (played by Catherine O’Hara), Grape – Delores (played by Monica Bellucci), Lemon – Wolf Jackson (played by Willem Dafoe) and Strawberry Kiwi – Bob (the Shrinker!)
The limited-edition Fanta Beetlejuice products will grant access “to a range of experiences” by scanning the QR code on the products and downloading the Coca-Cola App, or heading to the OneXP page. Further announcements regarding these exciting experiences will be revealed soon. Dana Nussbaum, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Warner Bros. Pictures, had this to say about it:
“We are so thrilled to be bringing the wildly imaginative and ghoulishly creative Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to theaters this September and are proud to partner with Fanta® on this character’s long-awaited return to the big screen. Fanta® is a brilliant collaborator and has delivered a truly inventive spin on their product with a limited-edition lineup that pairs perfectly with visionary filmmaker Tim Burton’s iconic creation.”
It took a full 35 years for a Beetlejuice sequel to happen but Burton seems to be making it count. The trailers have promised a lot of old-school, practical effects, which feels like a return to form for the filmmaker. Keaton and the rest of the cast also feel right at home in this world. Particularly Ortega, who has become a breakout star in movies like Scream and shows like Wednesday.
“We’re excited for fans to try out our special new Fanta limited edition flavor – an unmissable extension of the Fanta range,” added Ibrahim Salim Khan, VP Global Category Strategy of Fanta. “There’s more to come with this iconic partnership, so keep an eye out for a series of Beetlejuice-themed experiences that will be rolled out throughout September and October, so you can get up close and personal with the film of the season.”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to hit theaters on September 6. For more, get the details on the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The Afterlife Experience coming to Los Angeles later this month.
