Slasher fans, rejoice! At long last, the Hatchet franchise is getting a complete release on Blu-ray for the very first time. The fine folks at Dark Sky Films have announced the release of Hatchet: The Complete Collection this summer, with the steelbook due to arrive in late June. All four of Adam Green’s Victory Crowley bloodbaths will be included in the set, along with a bonus disc containing a couple of hours of brand new bonus features.
The set retails for $69.98 and is available for pre-order now. Dark Sky also unveiled the cover art, which you can check out below. It is more than a little surprising that this is the first time Green’s slasher series has been released as a collection, but it’s certainly a better late than never situation. Starring the great Kane Hodder in as Victor Crowley, it’s one of the more underrated slasher franchises to come around in the 2000s. Here is a breakdown of the five-disc set:
Disc 1: Hatchet
Disc 2: Hatchet II
Disc 3: Hatchet III
Disc 4: Victor Crowley
Disc 5: Exlcusive Blu-ray Bonus Disc with nearly 2 hours of brand-new bonus features
- Hatchet: Swamp Tales
- Production Journals
Hatchet was released in 2007 and, despite its low budget, contained some truly memorable practical kills. Hatchet II followed in 2010, with Hatchet III arriving three years later in 2013. Green surprised us all with the release of Victor Crowley in 2017, with the fourth entry shot in secret before it was announced out of nowhere. Green wrote all four entries and directed all but Hatchet III, with B.J. McDonnell stepping in. Dark Sky also included a new synopsis for the collection, which reads as follows:
“Old-school American horror is back as Adam Green’s iconic Hatchet series returns in a blood-soaked, fully Unrated collection, uniting all four films for the first time. Unleashed at a time when the fun of 80s slashers had all but disappeared from the cinematic landscape, Hatchet ushered in a new era of terror with its unapologetic brutality and introduction of Victor Crowley, the modern bogeyman, who ruthlessly hunts those who dare tread into his swamp. With each installment, the stakes escalate, delivering bigger, bloodier scares and a relentless barrage of inventive kills. So gather all your pieces, because it’s time to return to his swamp and learn once and for all that some legends truly never die.”
