With June right around the corner, so is the upcoming release of MiroWin’s PvE game Bureau of Contacts. With the game’s use of generative AI to determine the actions of the ghosts you’re exorcizing, MiroWin has dropped a little video demonstrating said neural network in Bureau of Contacts, which responds to the players actions and words, making the adage of your words having consequences even more pertinent.

For those who need a recap, Bureau of Contacts puts you in the shoes of an agent of the bureau, where you must contact and investigate paranormal entities. Featuring “clear and sequential stages of investigation and exorcism”, your success depends on effective teamwork and, of course, what you say and do.

MiroWin touts the game as the first time that generative technology has been used to control behavior based on players’ words and actions. The new video demonstrates how the ghosts in Bureau of Contacts analyze the context of what players say, simulate moods and attitudes towards what they hear/occur, then ultimately make decisions on their own will and reasoning, parodying human behavior and “cause and effect relationships”.

As a result, in Bureau of Contacts, you will have to watch your words, as not only will you get a meaningful response for said words, but you may also be subjected to appropriate “actions” if the AI (and therefore, the ghost) thinks you deserve it.

In addition to using this AI network, Bureau of Contacts also features a progression system where players have the opportunity to comprehensively develop their characters and their abilities. Other features planned for the game include generative room layouts, and the ability to communicate with the ghost by voice, as well as the use of medium and astral functions, a skill tree, VR support, and porting to consoles.

Bureau of Contacts will arrive in Early Access on Steam, with the aim to implement the previously-mentioned planned features.
