While Namco’s 1988 sidescroller Splatterhouse had its soundtrack released back in Japan, that was a long time ago, and it’s also out of print. Luckily, the folks at SPACELAB9 have teamed up with Bandai Namco to remedy that with a brand-new vinyl that you can pre-purchase now from SPACELAB9’s website, with an expected August 2023 ship date.
The $34.99 LP contains 40 tracks from the arcade version of the game, which was composed by Katsuro Tajima and Yoshinori Kawamoto, who went on to compose music for titles such as Star Fox Assault, We Love Katamari and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. And for those who love variants, the soundtrack is available in two SPACELAB9 website-exclusive variants: “PUSTULENT” GREEN/PURPLE SPLATTER VINYL and 140g “MOULDERING MANSION” PURPLE/BLACK HAZE
The Splatterhouse: Original Video Game Soundtrack LP comes in two spacelab9.com-exclusive variants for $34.99 each: the 140g “PUSTULENT” GREEN/PURPLE SPLATTER VINYL and 140g “MOULDERING MANSION” PURPLE/BLACK HAZE VINYL. As for the packaging, the gatefold jacket features new artwork by Shagrat, and liner notes by Rob Strangman, owner of the longtime online source for the Splatterhouse series, West Mansion: The Splatterhouse Homepage. If that’s not enough, the LP also includes a bonus 9″ x 11″ double-sided Halloween Decoration with custom artwork by Shagrat, available exclusively from SPACELAB9.
Obviously, something like this is going to go fast, so head on over and reserve your copy. You can get a taste of the game’s soundtrack from SPACELAB9’s SoundCloud.
Thanks to RelyOnHorror for the heads up!
Meanwhile, if you’re looking to play the original arcade version, you can do so via the Nacmo Museum, which is available on the Nintendo Switch.
