Steven Spielberg’s Jaws was originally released in theaters on June 20, 1975, and we still can’t stop talking about it 45 years later. Yes, it’s now been almost exactly 45 years since we first met Brody, Quint, Hooper and that mechanical shark that still keeps us out of the water to this day, and Amblin is celebrating 45 years of Jaws with a Twitter watch party this weekend.
To make things extra special and extra fun, the #JawsAtHome watch party will be hosted by Kevin Smith, a big time fan of the film who’s currently writing a spoof titled Moose Jaws!
#JawsAtHome kicks off at 1pm PST on Saturday, June 13, and you’ll be able to follow along using that hashtag. Also make sure you’re following Kevin Smith (@ThatKevinSmith).
Smith teases that he’ll be tweeting along with the movie – which is now available on 4K Ultra HD! – and telling “tales of seeing this cinematic shark story for four decades.”
This Saturday, the beaches will be open, it’ll be a beautiful day and people will have a wonderful time when we all get together for the JAWS Twitter Watch Party, presented by host and honorary Amity lifeguard @ThatKevinSmith. Fire up your copy of #JAWS (now on UHD!) and join us! pic.twitter.com/VpFFadDPTm
