Warner Bros. reacquired the rights to William Golding’s classic novel Lord of the Flies a couple years back, and we learned last year that Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria) is on board to direct a brand new adaptation. This week, THR reports that Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking, A Monster Calls) will be scripting Guadagnino’s adaptation.
THR notes, “The studio at one point was developing a female-skewing version of Flies but has changed course and is aiming to hew closer to the original novel with this feature project.”
“The original novel follows a group of school boys stranded on a deserted island who descend into a savage social order.”
Guadagnino will produce alongside Marco Morabito.
