While it makes sense that id Software did away with your pithy pistol that you were supposed to start with in DOOM Eternal, it turns out that the devs didn’t completely remove it from the game.
Leave it to Dave Oshry of New Blood Interactive (the folks behind DUSK, by the way) to spill the beans on the pistol, which you can access via cheat codes.
You’ve probably heard by now that DOOM Eternal originally had a pistol and YES it’s still in the game and accessible via console commands (with Cheat Engine)
I’ve heard it was scrapped because it didn’t really fit the combat flow.

Unfortunately, Bethesda has decided to not make the cheat codes available to players right out of the gate. So to access the ability to use cheat codes, you’ll have to use a cheat engine like this one.
Speaking of cheats, a YouTuber named Postposterous recorded their exploits using the cheats that id Software left in the game, including using a gib code that’s quite explosive.
DOOM Eternal is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
