Sony Pictures/Screen Gems’ The Grudge may be looking at an extremely strong opening weekend, but audiences are not having any of it.

The Nicolas Pesce-directed sequel received an extremely rare “F” CinemaScore grade, putting it in the company of such films as mother!, Uwe Boll’s Alone in the Dark, The Box, Fear Dot Com, I Know Who Killed Me, Wicker Man, Wolf Creek, and The Devil Inside, the latter of which ended with a link to website. Interestingly, Hereditary just missed the mark and received a D+ CinemaScore.

Our very own William Bibbiani called it “underwhelming” and filled with “contrived supernatural clichés”, while I called it “excruciatingly boring, a narrative mess, and unnecessarily mean-spirited.” (Twitter)

Obviously, I like some of the aforementioned movies, and some of you might even enjoy The Grudge. As horror fans, we’re supposed to accept the various tastes of our brethren. It’s part of what makes this community so special.

With that said, what did you all think of the new Grudge? Have your say below.
