With the surprise resurrection of Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us 2 at The Game Awards 2019, there were more than a few questions after that teaser dropped. Luckily, in an interview with USGamer, LCG Entertainment CEO Jaime Ottilie (whose company revived Telltale Games earlier this year) was happy to drop some revelations.

For starters, the sequel will not use the Telltale Tool engine, which was the staple for the majority of their games, and instead utilize Unreal Engine 4 for its development. Furthermore, development has been “completely restarted” by Telltale from what the original team had created. “We felt it best to give the new creative team a clean slate to start with,” said Ottilie.

Furthermore, the new Telltale is looking to bring on more former original employees in the future, though it’s unclear at the moment whether any developers who were involved with the original development of The Wolf Among Us 2 at the time of its cancellation will work on the sequel again.

At the moment, apart from original Telltale employees Sara Guinness and Zac Litton (who were director of operations and VP of engineering, respectively), the new incarnation of the studio is “currently working with several other former Telltale [employees] on a freelance basis”, with more full-time roles “possible” in the future.

Currently, no platforms or release date have been announced for The Wolf Among Us 2.
