Russia’s TV-3 Channel and Central Partnership Film Company have come together to produce a movie based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s sci-fi novel Metro 2033, Variety reports.
“Metro 2033 is a 2002 post-apocalyptic fiction novel set within the Moscow Metro, where the last survivors hide after a global nuclear holocaust,” Wiki reads.
“It has been followed by two sequels, Metro 2034 and Metro 2035, and spawned the vast Metro media franchise,” including a series of popular video games.
Director and cast have yet to be announced, but filming is due to start next year.
The Russian premiere of the movie is already scheduled to take place on Jan. 1, 2022.
