Nightdive have updated the System Shock remake Kickstarter page with the month’s update, showing off some goodies in the character and environment designs.
Including a toilet.
In all seriousness, it’s pretty neat that the devs have put as much detail as they did into the functionality of the toilet/sink cylinder thing. What’s even neater is the level design shot demonstrating the eeriness of the maintenance level. With its fog and lighting, it feels almost like you’re on the Nostromo from Alien (to give you the idea of the atmosphere).
Another interesting set of concepts are the Protoborgs, which are “yet-unprocessed Citadel crew members awaiting full cyberconversion.” Featuring subdermal circuitry that “glows red in shadows/dark”, these humans can be found on the Medical level in a coma-like stasis, ripe for Shodan’s picking. Definitely creepy.
The System Shock remake is due out in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
