Last year, a coder managed to reverse-engineer the original Diablo source code, opening up not only options for modders, but also the potential to port the game to systems which were never intended to play the game. Of course, you know that there would be those fans who would try the latter.

That’s what’s happened with YouTuber Modern Vintage Gamer, who managed to get a version of Blizzard’s classic CRPG on his homebrewed Nintendo Switch! As a bonus, he made a video about it. The video also goes through the aforementioned history of reverse-engineering the Diablo source code, which oddly involved the Japanese version of the PS1 port of Diablo. It’s obviously not for everyone, but it’s certainly fascinating to check out.

While we’re not advocating using homebrew techniques on your Switch (since you could potentially brick your console, or Nintendo could ban it from going online), if you’re morbidly curious, you can find the reverse-engineered source code to create your own Switch version here.
