The alleged reveal that Death Stranding is releasing this November may have put paid to that rumored 2019 release date for PS4 exclusive stablemate The Last of Us Part II.
Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, a fairly reliable source of insider information in the games industry, tweeted about Death Stranding’s possible November release date, and the impact it may have had on The Last of Us Part II. Jason wrote the following in this tweet.
‘Looks like Death Stranding is about to get announced for a November release. The Last of Us 2 was also planned for fall 2019 but I actually just heard it got bumped to early 2020, possibly February? Either way, wild final year for PS4.’
While nothing had been concrete for either game, it would be odd of Sony to allow the two biggest guns in its arsenal to release a month or so apart, even if the company is starting to shift its focus towards the next generation of console production.
