The full trailer for Lars Klevberg‘s remake of Child’s Play is here and we now have a better picture at what Orion is unboxing come June 21st.

Chucky, now voiced by Mark Hamill, is kept mostly in the shadows (again). Only this time, we can really see just how dark and scary of a vibe Klevberg is going for. It’s a return to form for Chucky, who hasn’t been this ominous since the first film back in 1988. This remake couldn’t be more different than creator Don Mancini’s still-quite-alive-franchise that’s headed for TV and more feature sequels.

Still, the trailer does reveal that it’s basically the exact same story, although Klevberg delivers it his own reinventions. In Child’s Play 2019, a mother (Aubrey Plaza) gives her son (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. The footage not only gives us our first taste of Chucky’s new voice (it’s shockingly perfect), but it also reveals his origins. In the original, Chucky is birthed by serial killer Charles Lee Ray after he uses magic to put his soul into a Good Guys doll. Here, a manufacture worker appears to put a faulty/hacked/whatever A.I. chip into a Buddi doll, which then rises maniacally in the background.

However, I’m a little shocked at how much footage they give away. It really does look like the entire movie in just two minutes (Andy fights Chucky? Then Andy and his friends fight Chucky?). I guess what they’re holding back is as much of Chucky as possible, which is always the best way to market a horror movie. We complain we want it all, but sometimes less is more, ya know?

What do you all think of the footage? What about Hamill’s Chucky voice?

Thanks to Mike M. for sending. Watch for a full HD version within the next few hours.
