Prior to the success of Devil May Cry 5, Capcom was already riding high with the success of the Resident Evil 2 remake (and still are). In fact, they’ve been releasing a series of roundtable interviews that feature the developers talking about the production and the response to the game. The latest one continues that topic, but also features a special appearance by the director of the original version of RE2 in Hideki Kamiya!

The video, which clearly demonstrates the camaraderie between the four developers, has the group focusing on a variety of topics, including the obvious changes made to the original game for the remake.

Kamiya also shares a few interesting tidbits from the original game’s production, including the idea of Leon being hungover and reporting to work a day late, which wasn’t included in the final game, but was included in the game’s manual. Kamiya explains that this bit was inspired by his own experience being dumped by his girlfriend right before Christmas, and getting drunk to cope. He realized that by going in to work on Christmas, everyone would figure out what happened, so he skipped that day.

And yes, the group discuss the famous Tofu Survivor minigame, and how its creation in the original game came to be. It’s a real joy to watch.

If you missed the first two videos, you can check them out here and here, respectively.
