‘Annabelle 3’ Feels More Like a ‘Conjuring’ Film Than the Other Spinoffs, Says James Wan
The Conjuring spinoff Annabelle will reach a third film before The Conjuring itself does. But Annabelle 3, directed by screenwriter Gary Dauberman, may end up being more of a Conjuring movie than an Annabelle movie anyway; it has been previously confirmed that Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will be playing Ed and Lorraine Warren in it.
“I think by the very nature of Patrick and Vera being in it, I would say somewhat, yes, because in Annabelle 3 the doll comes back to the Warren’s home,” producer James Wan told us, when we asked him if the new Annabelle film would feel more like a new Conjuring film.
“It finally comes to the Warren’s home so by the very nature of it actually being in the home and the story takes place in the Warren’s home, it feels more like a Conjuring film in that respect.”
The sixth title in The Conjuring franchise picks up with the Warrens bringing the Annabelle doll to a place where she can no longer wreak havoc: their Artifacts Room. Annabelle awakens the room’s evil which sets its sights on a new target: the Warrens’ ten-year-old daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace).
Wan had previously called it “Night at the Museum with Annabelle.”
Annabelle 3, which has now wrapped filming, comes alive on July 3, 2019.
