Half-Life recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and it was yet another sad reminder that Half-Life 3 still isn’t a thing we’ve played. Some solace can be found however in a lengthy free documentary by Noclip (which includes former GameSpot video man Danny O’ Dwyer as host) that investigates the original game’s legacy and the community that keeps it alive to this day.
There’s sadly no involvement from creators Valve, but there are soundbites from Respawn’s Vince Zampella (Titanfall), Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog (God of War) and Gearbox’s Rady Pitchford (Borderlands) among others.
The documentary, titled ‘Unforeseen Consequences’ weighs in at a bit under 2 hours and is genuinely an interesting look at a very important game.
Noclip has also previously created documentaries on the likes of Bethesda Game Studios’ history and the making of Horizon Zero Dawn.
Now back to pining for more Half-Life I go.
