One of my personal favorite Marvel movies was the mystical Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister). I really can’t imagine anyone doing more justice to Stephen Strange and his wacky world than Derrickson, so I’m pleased to hear via THR tonight that Derrickson has inked a deal to direct the sequel.
The site notes, “A search for a writer to pen the script is about to get underway.” The 2016 film was penned by C. Robert Cargill, who will hopefully be back for the follow-up.
Benedict Cumberbatch, of course, will be playing the title character, last seen in Avengers: Infinity War. Strange didn’t survive the film, but anything is possible in the MCU.
