Wales Interactive have announced a brand new stealth-oriented survival horror game in the form of Maid of Sker Set for release Third Quarter 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch, Maid of Sker will also have a boxed edition that will release around the same time, published by Perp Games.
Focusing on Welsh folklore, Maid of Sker is based on the true story of Elizabeth Williams. You play as Thomas Evans, a musician who is thrust into a terrifying battle to save the woman he loves. Set in 1898 in and around Sker House, a real home which still stands to this day and is purportedly “one the most haunted in Britain”.
Featuring “realistic 4k visuals” Maid of Sker‘s gameplay focuses on stealth, exploration and no-weapon survival tactics. The game will have a “multiple thread narrative” which depending on the decisions you make, unlocks different story paths and multiple endings.
Enemies within the game feature expert hearing, thanks to the 3D sound-based AI system. What this means for players is their reliance on stealth and distraction. Objects can be picked up and used as traps, but there will be points where your only option is to hold your breath! Time it correctly, and you’ll escape. Fail to do so, and that gasp of air may be your last.
