‘Fallout 76’ B.E.T.A. Launches This October

Fallout 76 fans who sprung for the pre-order for a chance to participate in the game’s B.E.T.A. (Break-It Early Test Application) test now have a date (sort of) for when they’ll get their hands on a post-nuclear West Virginia.

In a post on the Bethesda forums, Community Admin Jurassica stated the following: “Starting in October we’ll be selecting people who have pre-ordered the game from a participating retailer to enter our B.E.T.A. We’ll start small and grow over time as we prepare for launch”. They then clarified their statement, saying that “everyone who pre-orders at a participating retailer will be included in the B.E.T.A.”.

Of course, there’s a process to actually getting in on the fun. In lieu of reading the FAQ, here’s the gist of it: First, pre-order the game. After that, find the redemption code on your receipt or email confirmation. Take that to bethesda.net, log in (or sign up, if you haven’t) and enter the code. Bethesda will contact you with the details when they’re available. As mentioned previously, the beta will begin first on Xbox One, and come to other platforms later.

For PC users, it’s interesting to note that while you can pre-order Fallout 76 from Gamestop, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, Walmart, Bethesda.net, and the Windows Store, there’s currently no Steam listing. That will probably change down the road, but if you want to get in on the beta, you’ll have to order from the above-mentioned retailers instead of waiting.

Fallout 76 launches November 14th.
