“No beatin’ or cheatin’.” That’s what an ex girlfriend said to me when we started dating. Pretty simple rules to abide by if you ask me. After seeing this short though, I’d wager adding “No killin’” to that statement would be a prudent decision.
JB Veyre, who’s been shooting (movies, not people) in France for 30 years now, tells a vague and haunting tale of a marriage gone sour at the hands of alcoholism… and murder in this week’s episode of World of Death, MIDNIGHT CRISIS! A woman drinks and cries alone in her apartment. Her significant other comes in and she accuses him of being out with another woman. What initially looks to be a dramatic representation of a situation all too real and common quickly takes a turn for the worse as our lead proceeds to pull a gun on his sad and inebriated lady friend, all the while their son is in the neighboring room. What follows is an interesting twist that I dare not spoil. I’ll tell you one thing, this family is going to need a helluva lot more than counseling to get through this problem.
I figured it being the 4th of July and the USA’s Independence Day, a foreign short would make for the perfect episode today. So sink your teeth into (pun intended) MIDNIGHT CRISIS and enjoy its savory horror goodness!
