In a blast from the past, GSC Game World, the creator of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy, quietly announced via Twitter that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is now in development, and is scheduled for a 2021 release.
Now before anyone starts going crazy over this, keep in mind that the game was originally announced back in 2010 before GSC Game World head Sergiy Grygorovych shut down the studio and the development of the game. What followed was original GSC team being rebranded Vostok Games, but couldn’t negotiate the rights for the IP from Grygorovych, and instead went on to work on the online FPS Survarium. GSC Game World was subsequently resurrected in 2014, but went on to release the RTS game Cossacks 3 instead.
Which brings us to today. Other than the website for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, that’s pretty much it regarding any new info on the game. As for the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R., despite the original game being released back in 2007, the series has enjoyed a cult following. In fact, players are still modding the games to this day. ABR Mod, which gives the third game in the series, Call of Pripyat, a serious graphical upgrade, recently had an update released. You can check out the trailer below. Hopefully we hear more about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2‘s development (in a positive way) soon.
