Well, it certainly looks like Fox TV is cleaning house this week… in addition to canceling its popular comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, and The Mick, the network pissed off its horror fans with a double whammy today.
Both The Exorcist and Lucifer were unceremoniously dumped, the former following a stellar second season and the latter in the midst of its third season run.
Lucifer star Tom Ellis shared the news on Twitter, and we agree with his sentiment: #gutted. Here’s hoping he and the rest of the cast land on their feet and return to the airwaves soon!
As for “what might have been” on The Exorcist, TVLine has posted exec producer Jeremy Slater’s ideas for Season 3. Check it out, but be sure to grab some Kleenex first – talk about heartbreaking!
It has been the most amazing experience over the past 3 years playing Lucifer and falling in love with you, the fans. It fills me with great sadness to confirm the rumours that some of you have been asking. Fox has indeed cancelled #lucifer I’m so sorry guys. #gutted
