Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes’ A Quiet Place (read our review out of SXSW) continues to roll, although it was slowed significantly by the release of the new Avengers. Still, the John Krasinski-directed sci-fi thriller pulled in yet another $10.65M estimated this weekend for $148M domestic take (topping M. Night Shyamalan’s Split) and worldwide total of $235M. It should pass both $150M/$250M milestones this coming week.
As for the Brad Peyton-directed video game adaptation Rampage (read our review), which features Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and a trio of enormous monsters, it’s added $7.1M for $78M domestically. When the international numbers are reported, Rampage will have topped $300M worldwide. Even with these numbers, it needs another few strong international weekends to be considered a success. We’re awaiting this weekend’s results.
Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare (read our review) continues to quietly stack its winnings, adding another $3.21M for a $35M domestic total on just a $3.5M reported budget. Some international numbers have also finally been reported, adding $12M to the total for $47M worldwide, meaning it will top $50M by the end of its run. Damn Gina!
Potential updated numbers forthcoming.
