Over on the Italian auction website Aste Bolaffi, the late Stanley Kubrick’s assistant, Emilio D’Alessandro, has just listed a handful of pieces of Kubrick memorabilia from films such as A Clockwork Orange. Dr. Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut. Most exciting for horror fans are two choice items from The Shining.
Easily the coolest item in the entire auction is an ultra rare cut of Kubrick’s The Shining that runs longer than any of the versions we’ve ever seen, as it contains a deleted scene that has to date NEVER been released to the public. The auction describes…
“Long cut of the original film The Shining containing the scene in which Wendy, played by Shelley Alexis Duvall, carries Danny, played by little Danny Lloyd. These cuts, given by Kubrick to D’Alessandro, are particularly rare because the director notoriously burned all the leftovers at the conclusion of the editing.”
The starting price for the extended cut is right around $3,700.
Another noteworthy item from The Shining, with a starting price of over $12,000, is the burgundy corduroy jacket actually worn by Jack Nicholson throughout the film.
