The infamous Manson Family murders serve as the backdrop for Quentin Tarantino‘s ninth feature, a 1969-set film that will be produced and distributed by Sony.
We now know, via THR, that the film is titled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and that Brad Pitt has joined a cast that thus far also includes Leonardo DiCaprio.
Tarantino describes it as…
“A story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate.”
The film will arrive in theaters on August 9, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the murders.
Margot Robbie’s name has come up as a potential Sharon Tate.
